Pick your state
Ranked by the tightest cap first. Each calculator uses that state's own figures.
How the security deposit calculator works
Each state calculator multiplies your monthly rent by that state's statutory cap to show the maximum deposit, then adds the return window to your move-out date to show the exact date the deposit is due back. It states the date and the day-count from today — it does not decide whether a landlord complied. Caps carry exceptions (furnished units, small landlords, and city ordinances such as Chicago and rent-control interest rules), so open your state for the full statute.
