Accepting these terms. By using PlainStatute you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. These terms may change over time, and the footer always links the current version.
What this site is. PlainStatute is a free reference that summarizes US state law in plain language and links each figure to its official source. It is published for general information only. It is not legal advice, and reading it does not create an attorney-client relationship. For how far that goes, see our Disclaimer.
Accuracy and changes in the law. We work to keep every page correct and current, and we show the source and the review date so you can check it yourself. Even so, statutes change, courts reinterpret them, and errors can happen. Always confirm the current rule with the official source linked on the page before you act.
Links to other sites. Pages link to official statutes, agencies, and other resources we do not control. Those links are provided for convenience, and we are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of outside sites.
Advertising. This site may display advertisements through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve and measure ads. Our Privacy Policy explains what is collected and how to opt out of personalized advertising.
Content and reuse. The writing, layout, and original datasets on PlainStatute are ours. Statute text itself is public law. You may quote and link to our pages with attribution, but please do not copy the site wholesale.
No warranty and limits on liability. The site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, PlainStatute is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. Decisions with legal or financial consequences should be checked with a qualified professional.
