Privacy Policy

The short version: we don't run accounts or forms, but we do use Google Analytics to measure traffic and Google AdSense to display advertisements. Both use cookies.

What we run ourselves. PlainStatute is a reference site. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no forms that store your data, and no email capture. We don't sell data or build profiles of individual visitors ourselves.

Information we collect automatically. When you visit this site, certain information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies, including your IP address (which may be truncated or anonymized), browser and device type, pages viewed, time spent on the site, referring pages, and approximate location.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use this site. GA4 uses cookies to collect the information described above and processes it on Google's servers. For details, see the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use its services. To opt out of Google Analytics across all sites, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising. This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.

Cookies. This site and our third-party service providers (including Google Analytics and Google AdSense) use cookies. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect how the site functions.

Your choices. You may opt out of personalized ads via the Google links above, and manage or delete cookies through your browser at any time.

EEA and UK visitors (GDPR). If you visit from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights over your personal data, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of it, and to object to that processing. Because this site has no accounts and stores no contact details, the data at issue is what Google Analytics and Google AdSense collect through cookies, as described above. This site does not operate a cookie consent banner or consent management platform, so those cookies load when you visit. You can still refuse or remove them: use the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on and Google Ads Settings linked above, along with your browser's cookie controls. To exercise a data right, use the contact page.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not build profiles of individual visitors ourselves. The advertising cookies described above may count as “sharing” for targeted advertising under California law; you can opt out through the Google Ads Settings and www.aboutads.info/choices links above, and by managing cookies in your browser. To make a request about your information, use the contact page.

Children. This site is meant for a general adult audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, use the contact page and we will remove it.

Questions: use the contact page. This policy is updated if our practices ever change; the site footer always links the current version.
