How the Pennsylvania rule works
Pennsylvania law does not require vacation pay. Under the Wage Payment and Collection Law, vacation is a fringe benefit owed only when the employer's policy or a contract provides for it. The Department of Labor and Industry states that benefits such as vacation pay are due only if the employer has a policy or contract to pay them; the terms of that policy decide what is owed at separation.
