How the Minnesota rule works
Minnesota has no statute that itself requires vacation payout when a job ends. The employer's own policy controls, and vacation owed under that policy is collectible as wages. Lee v. Fresenius Medical Care (Minn. 2007) held vacation pay is a matter of contract, so a written policy can impose conditions on payout or deny it; benefits owed under a policy are payable within 30 days of coming due.
